The Taviloğlu Collection of Mustafa Taviloğlu, started with great enthusiasm in 1972 and has continued to grow with passion and devotion for 52 years, has met with art lovers. This collection, which Taviloğlu created with the works he connected with and carefully selected, draws attention with its diversity of artists, periods, styles, techniques and mediums. Featuring 2412 works by 903 artists, this collection can be visited by art lovers between September 21 and December 15.

More than 2400 works from the private collection will be exhibited under the title “A Collector's Story Exhibition”; Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture, Mimar Sinan Fine Arts University, Istanbul Painting and Sculpture Museum, under the main sponsorship of İş Sanat, Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality (IBB), IBB Department of Culture (IBB Culture), IBB Department of Cultural Assets (IBB Heritage),  With the contributions of Altınmarka and Eyüp Municipality and in cooperation with Contemporary Istanbul Foundation, the collection will be on view free of charge in 7 venues that have an important place on the cultural and artistic map of Istanbul, including Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture, Artİstanbul Feshane, Istanbul Sanat, Museum Gazhane, Liqueur Factory, Gallery Eyüpsultan and İş Sanat Kibele Art Gallery.

Curation of the Collection and Project Team

Coordinated with Taviloğlu Collection manager Neslihan Muratbeyoğlu Aktürk and project designed and managed by Ekmel Ertan, the curatorial arrangements for this important exhibition are by Derya Yücel and Marcus Graf, while the concept and arrangement of the space is by architects Murat Tabanlıoğlu and Emre Arolat. Visual design is by Nazlı Ongan (Salon), digital applications by Daniele Savasta, and video content and documentary by Sıla Ünlü İntepe (Kimbuvideo). Social media, promotion and PR activities are carried out by September in collaboration with CIF; Selin Süter provides consultancy services.

Exhibition Spaces and Themes

Taviloğlu Collection welcomes visitors to the Istanbul Museum of Painting and Sculpture with the exhibition “Half a Century of Adventure”, which presents a chronological overview of the collection. The collection is also exhibited in different venues under four themes:

People We Know: This theme, which includes figurative works about people and their lives, extends from the 19th century to the present day. (Artistİstanbul Feshane and İş Sanat Kibele Art Gallery)

Cities We Live In: This theme, which includes works on public space, the city and architecture, spans from the 19th century to the present day. (Liquor Factory)

Landscapes We Watch This theme, which includes landscape and landscape works centered on nature, extends from the 19th century to the present day. (Golden Horn Shipyard)

Colors We See: This theme, featuring works that present the colorful world of abstract art, spans from the 20th century to the present day. (Museum Gazhane)

Each theme is exhibited in different venues, offering visitors a broad artistic perspective.
